What is the MileHighHub Canopy Tour?

It is an experimental virtual tour that takes you through the parts of a canopy / parachute system. This 3D tour is an original piece of work done by us and works in any browser on any device. This is for entertainment purposes only. You will learn about the following:

Throw Out Handle: The throw out handle can be a hackey, monkey's fist, freefly pud, or a piece of plastic. It is pictured here as a red hackey.

Pilot Chute: Once a skydiver throws his throw out handle, the attached pilot chute (PC) collects air and pulls out the rest of the canopy system.

Bridle: This long black piece of webbing connects the canopy to the PC.

Main Closing Pin: This commonly curved metal pin is used to keep the container closed after packing a canopy

Kill Line: PC's can be collapsible. The kill line is what collapses the PC. Commonly, if the exposed kill line on the bridle shows color then the PC is not collapsed.

Deployment Bag: The canopy is packed in this bag and is extracted during deployment.

Canopy: Like most of today's canopies, this is a 9-cell canopy. Two air inlets equals a cell and in-between every inlet is a rib.

Stabilizers: Pieces of fabric on both ends of some canopies

A, B, C, and D LINES: Lines are connected to the following colors in the tour: Yellow = A, Red = B, Green = C, Blue = D.

Brake Lines: These lines are connected to the flyers toggles. Pulling down one toggle produces a turn and pulling down both equals a flare.

Slider: A piece of fabric that helps slow down openings.

Closing Tabs: Collapsing the slider by pulling the tabs will reduce drag, improve visibility, and stop the most annoying flapping noise on the dropzone.

Slider Grommets: Where the lines pass through the slider.

Slinks: Used to connect canopy lines to the risers.

Risers: This blue Webbing connects the container to the canopy lines (or SLinks to be specific).

Dive Loops: Used to pull the front of the canopy down.

Guide Ring: Prevents you from losing your toggles if you let go.

Cat Eye: A slit on the brake lines that is used when stowing toggles.

Toggles: What you pull down on when turning or flaring.

Cord Loop: An important part of the 3-ring cutaway system.

Small Ring: Another important part of the 3-ring cutaway system.

Medium Ring: Yet another important part of the 3-ring cutaway system.

Rsl Ring: Attachment point for a reserve static line, an optional safety redundancy that should assist in activating your reserve should you cut away.
